Queen of the Road
59I have always had a high opinion on the driving habits of the gentler sex, universal male cynicism on the subject notwithstanding. I have found the lady driver to be more considerate, mindful of driving rules and not prone to road rage. Yesterday however, I was literally thrown off track, by a young woman scything through traffic on one of those new gearless scooters so popular with working women these days --- as she tore down the street leaving a trail of swerving, cursing motorists and a ‘disillusioned middle aged man’...
On the subject of road rage – (and who isn’t prone to it?) -- I have been a victim ever so often, though of late have (with considerable effort) managed to check my susceptibility to the disease. It brings to mind a four liner I wrote sometime ago which went something like this –
Road-rage is a blowing volcano,
it wells in you through a crowded street,
burns the smile off your face,
turns driving thrill to smoke and ashes.

Road rage - why risk it? Better by far to walk! :P
